I quit my job
This was an intentional decision. I gave notice three months ago.
There are three main reasons:
-
We didn't reach product–market fit.
After more than two years of focused effort at Holly, it became clear that growth and traction weren't there. When that happens, motivation gets tested. Mine was, and I realized that recruiting is not a problem I want to spend the next decade working on.
I learned a lot during this time, and I'll write about those lessons separately.
-
It's time to explore.
I've been working full-time for seven years. Before committing to the next chapter of my career, I want enough time to follow my curiosity and see what consistently pulls me in.
-
I'm optimizing for my life
When priorities are clear, decisions stop being complicated. Work was my only anchor to the UK.
I'm now fully in control of my time, and I'm moving to San Francisco 🇺🇸!
The Plan: explore
- Read Szeliski's Computer Vision: Algorithms and Applications.
- Follow curiosity deliberately.
- Build continuously while learning.
- Identify the field I want to dedicate the next decade to.
This space is my public accountability log.
